"This domain points to an IP address that does not use the DNS servers associated with this server. Transfer the domain to this server’s nameservers at the domain’s registrar or update your system to recognize the current DNS servers. To do this, use WHM’s Configure Remote Service IPs interface."
This warning indicates that the DNS servers associated with the IP address of your domain do not match those configured on your WHM server. In other words, the domain's nameserver settings might be pointing to a different DNS infrastructure.
Possible Causes
The most common reasons for this error include:
- The domain’s NS (Name Server) records are pointing to a different DNS provider.
- The Configure Remote Service IPs settings in WHM are missing or misconfigured.
- cPanel is unable to detect the domain's current active DNS configuration.
Step-by-Step Solution Guide
1. Check Domain NS Settings
Access your domain registrar’s control panel and verify the domain’s nameserver records. If they do not match the DNS servers associated with your WHM server:
- Update the NS records to use the DNS servers configured on your WHM server.
- Keep in mind that DNS propagation can take 24–48 hours to fully take effect.
2. Update Remote Service IPs in WHM
If your domain is using an external DNS provider and you want your WHM server to recognize it:
- Log in to WHM.
- Navigate to "Configure Remote Service IPs" in the left-hand menu.
- Add the external DNS provider’s IP addresses to the list.
- Once saved, WHM will accept DNS validations associated with those IPs.
3. Verify the DNS Zone Configuration
- Go to WHM > DNS Functions > Edit DNS Zone, and select the affected domain.
- Review the zone file for any incorrect or missing entries.
- If needed, manually update the records or recreate the DNS zone for accuracy.
